Draupadi Murmu has been elected as India’s first tribal woman President. She has been elected as 15th President of India.

She was born on 20 June 1958 in the small village Baidaposi of Mayurbanj district of Orissa. Her father, Biranchi Narayan Tudu, was a farmer. 

She married Shyam Charan Murmu, who passed away in year 2014.She was mother of 2 sons & 1 daughter. Both of her sons died later in life.

Before being involved in politics, she worked as a teacher. She started her political journey as councilor of Rairangpur Nagar Panchayat in 1997

She get Nilkantha award for her tremendous work after becoming MLA from 2000 to 2004 and also portrayed as best party worker & MLA.

In 2006, she won the election to serve as the State President of the BJP Scheduled Tribe Morcha and the District President of BJP in Mayurbhanj. 

Draupadi Murmu was elected as the first woman Governor of Jharkhand on 18 May 2015 and remained in that position until May 2021.
